The SC494 SESR (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) visa is for skilled workers who are sponsored by an employer in regional Australia. The visa will allow skilled workers to live and work in regional Australia for up to five years. The visa will also allow holders to apply for permanent residency after three years.

Who Is Eligible For The SC494 SESR Visa?

In order to be eligible for the SC494 SESR visa, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • You must have a suitable occupation that is listed in the relevant skilled occupation list. 
  • You should have at least three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in your nominated occupation in the last five years. The period does not need to be continuous.
  • You must have a Positive skills assessment outcome from the relevant assessing authority unless an exemption applies.
  • You must be under 45 years of age.
  • You must have at least competent English (e.g IELTS 6-6-6-6).
  • You must be nominated by an Australian employer who legally operates a business.
  • Have a police clearance certificate.
  • You and any family members who apply with you must meet Australia’s health requirements. 
  • Visa cancellation or a previous application refusal may affect your eligibility

 

 

The 2 Types Of The SC494 SESR Visa?

Employer-Sponsored Stream

A regional employer can use this visa to hire workers if they can’t find an appropriately skilled Australian worker, and to address labour shortages in the region. This Visa allows you to live, work, and study in certain regional locations in Australia. After three years, you can apply for permanent residency.

Labour Agreement Stream

An employer must have a labour agreement with the Australian Government in order to nominate workers for this stream. Labour agreements are developed between the Australian Government (represented by the Department) and employers.
