Key Points of the New Regional Skilled Visas:

  • Introduction to the new regional skilled visas (Subclass 491 and 494) from the 16 November 2019 (It replaces the SC489 and 187 visas).
  • 23,000 places have been allocated for SC491 and 494 to be invited through EOI.
  • SC 491 and 494 visa holders will be eligible to apply for SC191 Visa (PR) with a minimum threshold taxable income for 3 years.
  • Metropolitan areas, such as Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne are not considered as ‘regional areas.
  • Holders of SC 491 and 494 visas are restricted to apply: SC189, 190, 186, 820, 132 and 858.
