Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional Visa - Pace Migration Agency Sydney

The NSW Government has created a new direct path to nominate Regional NSW skilled migrants for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa. The pathway is not yet active and is pending finalised modifications to their online systems.

The ‘Working in Regional NSW’ eligibility stream recognises applicants’ commitment to living and working in regional NSW. And demonstrates support for businesses seeking to retain skilled migrants for their operations.

About Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491)

A provisional visa is for people who want to live and work in regional Australia. Skilled migrants can live, study, and work in designated regional areas for five years on the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).

The Government maintains ultimate control over Australia’s migration programme. Including the distribution of available slots across programme phases and the approval of visa applications.

The agreement with the federal government allows for a limited number of state and territory nominations. And they allow nominations for certain skilled, business, and investor visa classes.

The NSW Government 491 Regional Nsw Direct Pathway

This pathway will allow applicants who have been working and living in the nominated (or related) regional area of NSW for the past 12 months and continue working there to obtain a 491 NSW Government nomination with 65 points.

Individuals applying through the NSW Government will not have to meet higher point requirements for specific occupations than those applying through this pathway. A skilled migrant visa will not require any additional work experience beyond the 12 months of work in their skilled profession.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to apply for this Pathway:

  • Meet the eligibility for this visa subclass on the Home Affairs website.
  • Currently living and working in their nominated (or closely related) occupation in a designated regional area of NSW. And have continuously done so for the past twelve (12) months for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Have a qualifications assessment that appears on the NSW Regional Skills List. And is suitable for a visa in an occupation.
  • The salary must be at least the TSMIT level or $53,900 per year (full-time basis) before superannuation is deducted.
  • Provide a copy of your SkillSelect EOI. As well as a list of all the skills you claim to have.

The MIA said that they were been informed that an online application portal will go live on the NSW Government website soon, and members are advised to check the website frequently for updates. Members should refrain from sending enquiries to the NSW Government regarding status updates.

On 6 October 2022, the Department’s Skillselect invitation rounds for sc 491 were completed. There were 818 people invited to apply for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visas in sc 491.
